WHAT IS A VERB?
The verb is perhaps the most important part of the sentence. A verb or compound verb asserts something about the subject of the sentence and express actions, events, or states of being. The verb or compound verb is the critical element of the predicate of a sentence.
Example:
(a) Mia shops every day.
(b) Mia dances every day.
(c) Mia swims every day.
The words, shops, dances ans swims tell us what Mia does. They are called Verbs. A verb is not always one word. It may be made up of more than one word.
Example:
(a) Mark is sleeping in his room.
(b) He was beaten by his father
(c) He shall go tomorrow.
(d) The cake has been eaten by the kids.
Imagine that a stranger walks into your room and says:
